Hi all, I hope everyone is well.
First up congratulations for the recent 8’s head result, nice to know that little old st ives can still mix it up with the big London clubs on their home stretch.
Secondly apologies for my lack of attendance at the recent open days/ club maintenance days, I’ll do my best to attend the next ones.
Thirdly, you have may noticed recently that there has been a lack of Watson’s down the club, particularly from Arthur and myself. Unfortunately Arthur hasn’t been too well recently but fingers crossed it won’t be long before he’s back for his Sunday lunchtime pint. I however on my placement year from uni have taken my hand to endurance events and I think I have only stepped foot in a boat once since Boston marathon last year (yes... it was that bad). My first event is this coming Sunday which is the Brighton marathon (on foot this time). With the half ironman triathlon on June 10th in Staffordshire. The last challenge I’ve set myself before going to Ibiza and ruining all this hard work for my 21st is to fly out to Germany to compete in the Hamburg ironman. This consists of a 3.8km swim, a 112mile bike ride, followed by a full 26.2mile marathon. All us rowers are always seen as mad but I’m doing this all in aid of a charity that means a lot to me for a number of reasons, Cancer Research Uk. Some of the clubs members have already supported me and I am so grateful for that, if anyone else would be kind enough to support me my just giving page link is below...
Finally, I can’t wait to get back out in the boat over summer. Good luck with the head to head on Sunday and I’ll see everyone soon.
